Dimora San Francesco

San Francesco Convent was built atop a hill known as "Prato," south of the town of Asciano and outside the city walls. Probably the site of the ancient fortress destroyed in 1169 after the town's surrender to the Republic of Siena. Once there was a church dedicated to San Lorenzo, where a community of Friars Minor likely settled in the first quarter of the 13th century. Indeed, Francis of Assisi himself visited Siena and the surrounding area in 1212, although there is no evidence that he founded a convent in Asciano.
Dimora San Francesco was created within the ancient convent and it is an apartment comprising two living rooms (both with a double sofa bed and a flat-screen TV), a dining room with a kitchenette (equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave, and dishwasher), a double bedroom, a single bedroom, two bathrooms with showers, and a laundry room. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi and a storage room with e-bike charging facilities.
